Washington University Law CERL
Center for Empirical Research in the Law

How to Approach Us
CERL is a center dedicating to supporting empirical legal research. It is our mission to grow the understanding, breadth, capability, and basic acceptance of the methodology.

We envision our role as one of a collaborator. We are most interested in collaborating with faculty members in the Washington University School of Law. We work with faculty on projects of all sizes in a number of different ways, including simple counsel on a small empirical matter to full implementation of a major scholarly initiative. Deploying center expertise and assets to assist the scholarship at the Washington University School of Law is what we do.
To begin a conversation, we encourage you to come talk to us if:
  • are planning an empirical project
  • are looking for collaborators for an empirical component of your project
  • need help with research design, information technology, or statistical analysis as pertains to your project
  • require some specialized research assistance or consulting
We also work in collaboration with other faculty members at Washington University and scholars at other institutions. The easiest way to get in touch with us is to email the CERL Director ( email ) to schedule a time to meet to discuss your effort and to see how CERL can be of assistance to you. From this discussion, the Director will work with you to find the right CERL-affiliate to help you with your specific needs.
