Washington University Law CERL
Center for Empirical Research in the Law

Introduction
Empirical research has become increasingly important in the legal academy. CERL is at the forefront of this type of scholarship, providing the necessary expertise and infrastructure to assist our collaborators.

We specialize in quantitative research dedicated to understanding the operation of the law and legal institutions. Many of CERL's Core Faculty Members are leaders in their disciplinary fields. Collectively, the academic, technological, and administrative expertise held by those at CERL — detailed in the pages to the left — is available to assist faculty members and students as they conceptualize, undertake, and disseminate their own empirical research.

Various aspects of this expertise have been employed to produce much of the research detailed in the Projects section.
