One important mission of CERL is to help build the community of scholars and practitioners who are engaged with empirical legal research. We approach this mission by offering traditional courses for law students and doctoral students in the social sciences, and workshops for law and social science faculty. Our training provides skills necessary for lawyers and others to understand, present, and rebut arguments based on empirical legal research. Some of our training have been in existence for many years and some initiatives have only recently been formed.
