Event co-sponsored by Northwestern University School of Law and Washington University Law
The Advanced Course is for law school faculty interested in furthering their training in empirical research. The workshop is designed for those who have some experience with empirical legal research and an understanding of elementary statistics (at the level taught in the introductory workshop). Topics to be covered will include: multiple regression, regression models for limited dependent variables, presenting results from non-linear models, data visualization and graphics, and matching methods for causal inference.
Travel
The workshop will begin Friday, February 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the law school and is followed by a cocktail hour that evening. The workshop concludes at noon on Sunday, February 11, 2007. We have planned this workshop in order to be very considerate of your time and schedule, and encourage you to attend all sessions. Please plan to arrive in St. Louis on Friday, February 9, in the morning and depart after either the last session or lunch on Sunday, February 11.
Workshop attendees will receive a 5% discount on published fares with American Airlines. Reservations may be made directly with American Airlines at 800.433.1790, using authorization number A2427AM, or by contacting Traude Wilson at TravelPlex (800.737.1900 or traude@travelplex.com). Accommodations
The host hotel for the workshop will be the Charles F. Knight Executive Education Center, located at Washington University's Danforth Campus, just east of Anheuser Busch Hall (the law school). The nightly rate is $109, and reservations can be made by calling 866-933-9400. Each room is furnished with a queen-size bed, a full bath, an armoire, and has high-speed Internet connections at the desk and bedside table. Additionally, small meeting rooms equipped with computers, laser printers, and speaker-phones are available at no additional cost. A complimentary deluxe continental breakfast is offered each morning.
Knight Center reservations must be guaranteed by December 20, 2006.
Airport Transportation to Hotel
We have arranged a discounted fare with Yellow Cab and St. Louis County Cab for transportation from Lambert International Airport to the Knight Center, and back. When arriving at the airport, you may dial 24 on the red courtesy telephone or 314-991-5300 to reach the taxi service. You must identify yourself as being with Washington University School of Law to ensure you receive this discounted fare. Due to heightened airport security, travelers must give the dispatcher flight information when calling for taxi service. The School of Law is approximately 25 minutes from the airport.
A much welcomed addition to the university is Metrolink, the St. Louis metro-area's rail system. The train can be boarded at the airport and ridden to the "University City-Big Bend" station, which is just north of the law school and the Knight Center. Meals
