imgRead.jpg The Workshop on Empirical Research in the Law (WERL) is a group of Washington University legal and social science scholars who have worked together to enhance group members' use of empirical methods in legal studies and of legal materials in social science work. Meeting weekly since the spring of 2001, WERL reads, discusses, and offers constructive criticism of articles and book chapters, written by members of the group and the academic community at-large. Members of the group have produced a substantial amount of original scholarship in the empirical legal research field as a result of their collaborations, including a piece published under the WERL pseudonym in the Southern California Law Review ( pdf ) (Volume 79, 2005, p. 157).
